History: In 1948, Bowman produced the first sports card set solely devoted to basketball. Basketball players did appear in other multi-sport sets before this time (see some 1933 Goudey cards on this site).
In late October 1989, NBA Hoops came on the scene with its first set of basketball cards. The following sets (1990-91, 1991-92) were marked by extreme overproduction. Young collectors during this time period surely remember these cards lying all over bedrooms and shoe boxes.
